Maxalt or rizatriptan is a triptan, a prescription medication that is used in alleviating moderate to severe migraine attacks. Triptans may also be used for the treatment of milder migraines that are not responsive to more simple analgesics such as ibuprofen, or a combination analgesics such as Excedrin.
This medication is not licensed or appropriate for use in patients aged 65 and over.
